It is hard to know whether or not you are in a committed relationship especially if you have not had the talk with your partner where you discuss where the relationship itself is going and where he or she thinks the two of you could end up. It can also be a nerve wracking process, preparing to sit down and have this talk but if you are wondering then there are some signs of a committed relationship that you might want to be on the lookout for.
If you seem to have become a priority in your partners life then this could be one of the signs of a committed relationship. If your partner chooses to spend more and more time with you and is turning down nights out with friends or other social commitments then there is a good chance that your relationship is heading in the right direction.
Meeting the parents is usually a pretty good sign that you are starting to commit to each other. This is a very big thing to happen within a partnership and can be one of the most nerve wracking things that you will ever be expected to go through but the good news is, if your partner suggests that it is time to meet their parents, things are starting to get serious. The same thing applies to their friends as well – if they want you to start coming up with them then it is their way of turning the relationship from a casual one into a more serious one.
An exclusive relationship is generally one of the biggest signs of a committed relationship. It is easy to date other people when you first get together and this is generally known as keeping your options open. However, if the two of you have stopped seeing other people and are only exclusively seeing each other, it means that there is no one else that your partner or indeed yourself would rather see and therefore is a factor of a committed partnership.
If your partner has started asking your opinion on important things within their life then this is another pretty good sign. For example, he or she could start asking you about a job prospect or an opinion on a new property. This is their way of saying that your views and opinions on life are important and is another of the signs of a committed relationship.
There are so many signs that you could be on the lookout for to see whether or not your partnership is going in the right direction but there are some that could be blanks, so to speak. He or she might ask for your opinion but not be exclusive to you – this isn’t one of the signs of a committed relationship, it is just that they respect your opinion. It can be hard figuring out the state of your relationship but if there are a number of signs that are put together, you might find that you are on your way to getting your happy ever after!
